Q-Are these actual KTM OEM Parts?

A-Many of the parts we sell ARE in fact OEM parts for the older KTM minis, Franco Morini and Dellorto manufactured many of the parts for those older models.  The Martin & Slater parts are NOT OEM, but aftermarket stock replacement parts, that will fit both  Martin and Slater bikes as well as the newer KTM 50s.

(Franco Morini Engine)

Franco Morini Automatic S5 Engine 50cc

This engine is the most popular, from the late 1960's, up until 2001, and used by many various motorcycle manufacturers, it is unusual because the kick-start lever goes forward (opposite to a normal bike). The S5 has a vertical cylinder with the carburetor bolted on to it.

Manufacturers that have used this engine are as follows:Italjet/Indian, Malaguti, LEM, KTM, Husky, DBM, Young Rider plus many others.

In the early 1990's the engine was also developed for more power, this included 2 and 4 reed valve cylinders with big cooling fins and bigger carbs (S5GS). Manufacturers that have used this engine include:Husky, KTM (pre 2001), DB Motors, LEM, Rivara, DBM.

The Husky version of this engine was fitted with an ‘O' ring head gasket & thicker base gasket in later years.

Franco Morini Automatic S6 Engine 50cc

This engine replaced the ageing S5 engine in 2001. Only 4 basic versions are manufactured. The S6 also has a vertical cylinder with the carb bolted to the crankcase and a 39mm bore.


S6E (Economy) - this is the lowest tuned version at 2.5bhp, is fitted with an SHA 14/12 carb, 2 reed inlet & 2 shoe clutch. Exhaust is held on with a 2 stud flange. Manufacturers using this engine include:Malaguti, LEM, Macbore, Roxon


S6T (Trainer) - this is the mid tuned version at 5bhp, is fitted with an SHA 14/12 carb, 2 reed inlet & 2 shoe clutch. Exhaust is held on with 2 springs. Manufacturers using this engine are so far only Macbore, CH Racing (Husky) & Aprilia

S6S (Sport) - this is the air-cooled race engine, tuned to 11bhp. It is fitted with a PHBG19 carb, 4-reed inlet, digital ignition with CDI and 3 shoe adjustable clutch. The original clutch (2001-2003) is adjustable through the side casing with a screwdriver; from 2004 most of these engines are fitted with the new ‘Grippa' clutch (see RACE SHOP-RACE TUNING). Exhaust is held on with 2 springs. Manufacturers that use this engine include:DB Motors, LEM, Factory, Husky (CH Racing), Aprilia


S6C (Competition) - this is the liquid cooled version of the race engine (not allowed under BSMA or ACU regulations in the UK, but used extensively in the USA), tuned to 12.5bhp. It is fitted with a PHBG19 carb, 4-reed inlet, digital ignition with CDI and 3 shoe adjustable clutch. The original clutch (2001-2003) is adjustable through the side casing with a screwdriver; from 2004 most of these engines are fitted with the new ‘Grippa' clutch (see RACE SHOP-RACE TUNING). Exhaust is held on with 2 springs. Manufacturers that use this engine include:DB Motors, LEM, Factory, Husky

Franco Morini scooter engines 50-400cc AH50L

Franco Morini have supplied scooter engines for over 40 years. Usually with horizontal cylinders. Early engines were used in BSA, Easy Rider, NTV scooters and were chain drive (MO1 & M1K). Modern scooters have used the belt drive engines, used by Malaguti, Italjet (50 cc & 125cc twin), Fun Tech (3 wheel car).
